In this workshop, participants will gain hands-on knowledge

• Creating their own ceramic underglaze transfers

• Exploring various printing processes.

• Participants will be guided through the entire step-by-step process, including the preparation and shooting of a screen using their own artwork, the light-exposure process utilizing acetate and photo-sensitive emulsion, as well as wash-out and the reclaiming of a screen.

• Printing techniques explored in class will include direct-to-surface printing, paper transfers, geli-plate techniques, plaster slabbing, and multi-colour printing.

Participants are welcome to bring one or two pieces of non-precious greenware to learn the transferring process. Leather-hard objects with a flat side are best. Tumblers, plates, dishes work well, however, most forms can be decorated. All other materials and printing supplies will be provided, as well as lots of general images for those who don't wish to supply their own artwork. If you wish to use your own artwork, please have a look at the instructions attached below. So that Alexx can create the acetate for printing, please send your own images by Wed Feb 17 to  alexx@rcboisjoli.com 

An artist from a young age, Alexx graduated from OCAD in Toronto. In his studio, called rcboisjoli, dynamic and modern wares are created by hand, using techniques for making everything from plaster models for ceramic objects to silk- screened decals to hand-printed textiles.
