Shannon Kennedy is an award winning jewelry designer who operates CYNOSURE JEWELRY located at Globe Studios in Kitchener . Shannon Kennedy was awarded 'Honorable Mention for Jewelry at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in 2009. She was one of the 13 artists invited to participate in SPARK, a collaborative project of the Ontario Crafts Council. A Certified PMC Instructor, Shannon will give a talk about Precious Metal Clay at the February meeting and will demonstrate how to work with it.

PMC (Precious Metal Clay) was developed in the early 1990s in Japan by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation. Metal Clay is clay-like medium used to make jewelry, beads and small sculpture. It consists of microscopic particles of pure silver or fine gold powder or platinum mixed with an organic binder and water. Metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or using moulds. After drying, it can be fired in a variety of ways including in a kiln. The binder burns away, leaving the pure, sintered metal.
