Collagraph is a printmaking technique that allows reproduction of images multiple times. Join Rhonda Uppington October 27th to see her demonstration of how she makes and uses a variety of materials to make collagraphs.

About Rhonda Uppington

Rhonda is drawn to the minutiae in everyday life, the delicate details created by the hand of man or Mother Nature that are often overlooked. Using printmaking techniques (eg. hand-carved linocut blocks or collagraph plates), vintage lace, leaves and other texturing devices, Rhonda creates detailed surfaces on her ceramics. Making her own linocut, plaster or bisque stamps, she adds unique and personal touches to her surfaces. While she does make occasional functional pieces, she prefers tiles as her ceramic canvas, often used in assemblages she calls Tile Quilts. Rhonda’s tiles are incorporated into backsplashes in home design projects for clients.

Rhonda’s foray into clay began in 2007 with a “Tiles and Extrusions” course led by Colleen O’Reilly Lafferty at the Haliburton School of the Arts (HSTA.) Rhonda has taken many subsequent courses at the HSTA (mosaics, concrete sculpture, printmaking, ceramics), as well as workshops through pottery groups (Pine Tree, Hamilton and Toronto), but she keeps coming back to tiles as her preferred way to express herself with clay.

Monthly Meetings will be held at  Toronto Potters Studio, 180 Shaw St. Studio #107, unless otherwise indicated

Toronto Potters invite all members to meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month between 7:00-8:30pm, to connect with colleagues and new members, to network and to find out what’s coming up in the community of ceramics.
