Tuesday April 23rd 2024, 7:00-8:30pm
TORONTO POTTERS MONTHLY MEETING
Artist Demo
with Grace Han
Toronto Potters Studio,
180 Shaw Street, Studio 107
Meet Grace Han, member of the Make and Do Collective who is in Toronto doing a residency at the Gardiner Museum. Grace will not show images, but will talk and demonstrate how she makes large coils and long slabs, then stretches them to create very large vessels. Grace directs us to her Instagram to see finished objects and her website

Originally from South Korea, and trained as a ceramicist, Grace Han immigrated to Canada six years ago. Living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Grace pursued an MFA from the University of Manitoba.
Grace describes her work as “expressing my feeling of being between somewhere - as a newcomer from Asia, as a person who has a slight physical frame but who holds an unseen boldness inside, and as a traditionally trained ceramic artist who is now trying to embrace the tradition with my originality. Large scale works with groggy red clay express my boldness. At the same time, I create really fine-detailed works with porcelain that look fragile and elegant to show my softness, as well.”
Due to a lengthy renovation at the Gardiner Museum, our Monthly Meetings will be held at
Toronto Potters Studio, 180 Shaw St. Studio #107, unless otherwise indicated
Toronto Potters invite all members to meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month between 7:00-8:30pm, to connect with colleagues and new members, to network and to find out what’s coming up in the community of ceramics.
No meetings take place in December, June, July or Aug.
