TORONTO POTTERS WORKSHOPS
Winter/Spring 2020

Finally having a home studio is going to allow Toronto Potters to offer workshops to address members’ requests. Workshop registration details will be available online in December at torontopotters.com


SCULPTING A HEAD

with MAGDOLENE DYKSTRA

Sunday January 26th 2020
10:00 am – 4:00 pm (with a one-hour lunch break)

MEMBERS’ FEE: $68 plus HST.

**This is a hands on workshop**

Magdolene Dykstra will continue her connection with Toronto Potters from her November presentation and lead a small group in a one-day, hands-on workshop for members to create sculpted heads at the Toronto Potters Studio. Recycled MCS clay will be available to members for $10 per bag at the studio or participants can bring their own clay. Participants should bring a bin to carry home their finished work at day’s end to dry and fire. Limited enrolment.

ABOUT MAGDOLENE DYKSTRA

Magdolene Dykstra is a first generation Egyptian-Canadian. After receiving an M.Sc.Ed. from Niagara University and her M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University, she was awarded two Graduate Assistantships and a Travel Grant to Arrowmont Centre, for Arts and Crafts, Tenn., has participated in residencies at York University in York, England and at Medalta in Alberta, and was an invited Artist in Residence at Watershed in Maine.

Awarded several grants from the Ontario Arts Council, her work has been exhibited internationally, in museums and galleries, and is included in collections around the world. Dykstra lives in the Niagara region of Ontario where she is a passionate artist-educator, teaching at secondary and post-secondary levels.

THROWING DEMO WORKSHOP

with SEAN KUNZ and ANDREW KELLNER

**This is a demonstration workshop**

MEMBERS FEE: $35 plus HST.           
NON-MEMBERS FEE: $45 plus HST

Sean Kunz (Calgary) and Andrew Kellner (Hamilton) will team-up to provide a one-day dual throwing demonstration workshop at the Toronto Potters Studio Sunday April 26 *This workshop will be presented by Toronto Potters leading up to the second edition of the Ash and Barrel Invitational Show in Toronto in May.

***  Toronto Potters will hold the March 24th Monthly Meeting at the Toronto Potters Studio (Due to a scheduling conflict with Gardiner Museum Programmes), where Andrew Kellner will present slides of his work ahead of this throwing workshop at the studio on April 26, and Sean Kunz will show slides of his work at the April 28th meeting at the Gardiner Museum.
